You know the old adage that you get what you pay for? I think that is probably more true on shredders than most other office equipment. This shredder can handle up to 13 sheets at a time and makes easy work of things like compact discs or old credit cards. I love being able to just slip the junk mail into this machine without even opening it. It just works, never had a problem with it jamming, the few times I've overloaded it the automated system just stops, waits a second or two and reverses the motor giving you a nice easy fix.

My mother had a cheaper little shredder and nuked it after just a few months of use. I got her one of these and she's also now sold on getting a "real shredder" instead of the little sub $100 toys that are out there. Sure, some of the cheaper machines do ok with a sheet here and there, but most people want to sit down and do all their shredding at once with old receipts or whatever else you may need to shred. This machine can run non-stop for at least 10 minutes before it needs a cool down period. This shredder has a 6 gallon capacity bucket so you won't be emptying it out all the time, which is a nice touch. Another tip, keep your shredder blades well oiled! Fellowes uses just a vegetable oil based system so it's easy and cheap to keep your machine in great shape. You can either use a little bottle to apply the oil to the blades or you can simply apply some oil to a sheet of paper and run it through. Fellowes 3229901 PowerShred 99Ci 17 Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder

Having used shredders for years, I am very adept at jamming them. I didn't believe that this shredder would not jam, but it is true. You have to work hard to trick the sensor to cause it indigestion. Even then, it will usually clear it automatically. The Safesense safety feature is awesome and the design is high tech. It is more expensive than a lot of shredders out there but if quality and safety are important to you, it is worth it. Only negative so far is the wheels are difficult to put on.
